Brimfield Antique Show - The Show

We finally made it to the Brimfield Antique Show!  This year, the May weather brought with it rain, rain and more rain.  Thankfully it wasn't pouring the whole time, but for the 3 days we were there, the forecast was rain.  The blessing in disguise was a decrease in crowds and traffic.  The thought, of extreme masses of people, was something I was dreading.  It turned out to be a pleasure strolling through the different fields and enjoying the assorted vendors.  Keep in mind, not all fields were opened   on the first day of the show.  Some shows opened on Wednesday or Thursday.  We left Wednesday late afternoon, so we did miss one of the large fields.  In hindsight, my advice would be, if you want to see everything, it's best to stay until at least Thursday night.  Nevertheless, we enjoyed it and had a great time!

Brimfield Antique Show - Where to Stay...

Brimfield, always takes place on the second Tuesday of May, July and September of every year.  To be sure that we wouldn't be too exhausted to walk the show, after a long drive, we headed onto the open road the Monday before.  For those who are new to this experience, beware that there are only a handful of B&B's locally and they are always booked well in advance.  I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it and so, I booked at the very last minute.  I don't recommend this.  We were very lucky.  At the last minute,  we took the place of an unexpected cancellation.  I will add that I was persistent (as well as desperate) and kept emailing in hopes of filling in for a cancellation.  All of the B&B owners/managers were so incredibly kind and responded promptly.  So, rule number 1 is book your accommodations well in advance.  Brimfield receives visitors from all over the world and May is the very first show of the year, so it's also one of the busiest.  

Rachel & I stayed at the lovely Heritage Hill B&B run by owners Ron & Ginger Seaburg.  It was our first time ever staying at a B&B and a truly wonderful experience.   A B&B's is small size allows your experience to be more intimate and it's a great opportunity to meet other show visitors.  Ron & Ginger were fantastic hosts and took good care of us.  Breakfast was served every morning at 8am, so it was a good chance to sit down and chat with them as well as the other guests.  During our visit, we met the Grant/Bazzani family which included their adorable 3 year old, Grey and 2 week old Kyr.  Both kids were absolutely darling and a pleasure to stay with.  For us, it was a great opportunity to talk to two fantastic artists (Thea & Nico - proud parents) and their parents (Land & Renee - the grandparents) and get their insight on the show.

Brimfield Antique Show - May 2012

I have always wanted to attend the Brimfield Antique Show ever since I heard of it.  The idea of tent after tent of wonderful eye candy to enjoy and unique foods to savour was an adventure Is am determined to try, so I've packed up my car and for a "Mother-Daughter Road Trip"with my daughter, Rachel.  I'm so excited to be going and especially excited to be sharing this experience.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Brimfield Antique Show, it's the world's largest antique show which takes place only 3 times a year, in May, July & September.  This little town in Massachusetts, U.S.A.  entertains visitors from all over the world looking for that special something.  Visitors range from tourists, stylists, decorators, artists, dealers, etc.

Bunny Love!

Bunny love is an incredible thing.  Last August, we decided to include a new member to our family and fell in love with a little bunny we named "Oliver".  This was the first time we had ever had a bunny as a pet, so there was a lot of learning to be done.  Fortunately, the web was filled with helpful information and resources.  "Olie", as we call him for short, turned out to be such a wonderful addition to our family, we just couldn't help but eventually add Poppy.  We carefully made sure that the two buns would feel comfortable together and took Olie with us to see how he would react to a new friend.  It was a huge success!  He adored her and has become her protector and friend.  We could not imagine our family without them!

Bedside Reads

My newest project is planning my very first trip to Paris!  My very first trip to Europe.  How insane?  So sitting on my nightstand are my night time reads.  Any suggestions?  I'm trying to get it altogether for May, but I'm not sure it's possible.  What do you think?

My nightstand includes other necessities like, a great lamp, a water carafe, some lip balm a little acrylic box which not only holds my lip balm but also my watch and any small items.  What does your nightstand hold?
